Is there a certin age I have to be?
Any and everyone is welcome to join our praise dance group. The only requirement is that you have a desire to praise and worship God through dance.
Can I suggest songs and movements?
YES! We welcome your input. As a team we want to give everyone the opportunity to express their creativity. If you have any suggestions please share them!
Are there other ways I can help?
As we get underway there will be opportunities for others to pitch in to make this ministry a great one!
Can I invite my friends?
Yessssssssss!!! We welcome all new comers!
Is there a Uniform?
The dance team currently has several dance uniforms in various sizes. If we do not have the sizes to fit you we can order additional dresses which usually come to around $60 per dress. The dresses are somewhat see through so we also ask that you wear black footless leggings or thights and a black tank top underneath them. when we preform we do not wear any jewelry that dangles. Earring posts are acceptable (gold, pearl, or silver). All ministry is done barefoot... so you either want freshly painted toenails or bare toenails. For practices just wear something comfortable since we'll be doing a lot of moving.
What if I miss practice or cannot make a dance?
If you cannot make a practice, you can make it up by joining our Fall River Practice on Sundays at 2:30pm. If you cannot make either practice please let one of the dance team leaders know. Missing one or two practices should not be a problem. However if you miss more than two and you cannot make them up, you will not be able to participate in the upcoming dance unless we can see that you have the dance moves down. We do this in consideration of the rest of the dance team and of the missing member. We want everyone to feel as confident as possible and not knowing the moves of the dance takes away from that ability.

Liturgical/ Praise Dance

Christmas Eve Service 2011

Liturgical and praise dance can be two separate things but they are generally the same type of dance. Typically liturgical/praise dance is a dance that is incorporated into the liturgies or worship services. More importantly, it is an expression of prayer and/or worship through body movement…through dance.

History:

The Liturgical/Praise dance ministry Marshall and Fall River United Methodist Churches began in October of 2011. Since then we have danced several times and anticipate dancing at least once a month. Any and everyone is welcome to join the group. The only requirement is that they have a desire to praise and worship God through dance.

Future Goals:

In 2012, we will at least host or attend one or two dance retreats for the purpose of spirital growth and development and for the understanding of the dance ministry. these retreats will, of course, be open to all the dancers and we hope that everyone can attend at least one. The retreats also give us a chance to deepen our bond with one another.

Practices and Ministry dates:
Our Practice takes place every Thursday night from 6:30- 8:30pm. (unless otherwise specified)
Some extra practices may be scheduled. (always done with group consensus)
We plan to preform at least once a month.
Upcoming scheduled preformances:
Jan 29nd - My Heart Your Home
March 25th - Give Me A Clean Heart
April 8th - Why Do You Cry?
From time to time we are asked to join other congregations and to share our dance ministry.
